Shri Jagannath Panchakam with English meaning
श्रीजगन्नाथ पंचकम उड़ीसा के पुरी मंदिर के श्रीजगन्नाथ स्वामी की स्तुति और प्रार्थना का श्लोक है। पुरी को मूल रूप से पुरूषोत्तम क्षेत्र कहा जाता था। भगवान जगन्नाथ श्री महाविष्णु के आठवें अवतार श्री कृष्ण की अभिव्यक्ति हैं। ” जगन्नाथ “ का अर्थ है सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्मांड के भगवान। इस मंदिर के उद्भव का उल्लेख ब्रह्म पुराण में मिलता है।
जगन्नाथ पञ्चकं में पाँच श्लोक हैं जिनमें से प्रत्येक में भगवान जगन्नाथ की विशेषताओं का वर्णन है।
श्री जगन्नाथ पञ्चकम्
रक्ताम्भोरुहदर्पभञ्जनमहासौन्दर्यनेत्रद्वयम्
मुक्ताहारविलंबिहेममकुटं रत्नोज्ज्वलत् कुण्डलम् ।
वर्षामेघसमाननीलवपुषं ग्रैवेयहारान्वितम्
पार्श्वे चक्रधरं प्रसन्नवदनं नीलाद्रिनाथं भजे ॥ १ ॥
raktaam-bhoaruha darpa bhancjana
mahaa-soundarya netra-dvayam
muktaa haara vilambi hema
mukutam ratno-jjwalat-kundalam.
varshaa megha samaana neela
vapusham graiveya haaranvitam
paarshve chakra-Dharam Prasanna-
vadanam neelaadri naatham bhaje.1
I praise the most beautiful eyes of the Lord which diminish the pride of red lotuses. He adorns the garland made of pearls, golden crown and the dazzling gem studded ear ornaments. He is as bluish as the water laden rain clouds. He wears garlands around His neck. He has the Sri-chakra at His side and His face is very pleasant to look at. My humble salutations to the Lord of the blue hill.1
फुल्लेन्दीवरलोचनं नवघनश्यामाभिरामाकृतिम्
विश्वेशं कमलाविलासविलसत् पादारविन्दद्वयम् ।
दैत्यारिं सकलेन्दुमण्डितमुखं चक्राब्जहस्तद्वयम्
वन्दे श्री पुरुषोत्तमं प्रतिदिनं लक्ष्मीनिवासालयम् ॥ २ ॥
phullendheevar loachanam nava
ghana shyaama-abhiraamaa-krutim
vishvesham kamalaa vilaasa
vilasat-paada-aravinda-dvayam.
daithyaarim sakalaendu mandita-
mukham chakraabja hasta-dvayam
vande shree-purushottamam prati-
dinam lakshmee-nivaasaalayam.2
I praise the Lord who has the eyes like the blossomed lotus flowers. He is handsome with the deep bluish black complexion. He is the Lord of the universe. His holy lotus feet are worshipped by Sri Brahma who sits on lotus. He diminishes all kinds of demons. His face is like the moon. He has the Sri-chakra and Shank in His hands. My humble salutations to the Lord who is the best of the Deities and is the dwelling place of Sri Mahalakshmi.2
उद्यन्नीरदनीलसुन्दरतनुं पूर्णेन्दुबिम्बाननम्
राजीवोत्पलपत्रनेत्रयुगलं कारुण्यवारांनिधिम् ।
भक्तानां सकलार्तिनाशनकरं चिन्ताब्धिचिन्तामणिम्
वन्दे श्री पुरुषोत्तमं प्रतिदिनं नीलाद्रिचूडामणिम् ॥ ३ ॥
udhyan-neerad neel-sundar tanum
poornendu bimbaananam
rajeevotpal patra-netra-yugalam
kaarunya-vaaraam-nidhim.
bhakthaanaam sakalaarti naashanakaram
chintaarthi chintaamanim
vande shree-purushottamam prati-
dinam neelaadri-choodaamanim.3
I praise the Lord whose handsome physique is like a rising cloud. His face as resplendent as the moon. His eyes are like fully flowered lotuses. He is the treasure house of mercy and compassion. He diminishes the troubles and worries of His ardent devotees. He is the precious gem in the core of the thoughts of His devout devotees. He is the greatest Lord of the Deities and He exists as the dazzling ornament of the blue hill.3
नीलाद्रौ शङ्खमध्ये शतदलकमले रत्नसिंहासनस्थम्
सर्वालङ्कारयुक्तं नवघनरुचिरं संयुतं चाग्रजेन ।
भद्राया वामभागे रथचरणयुतं ब्रह्मरुद्रेन्द्रवन्द्यम्
वेदानां सारमीशं सुजनपरिवृतं ब्रह्मतातं स्मरामि ॥ ४ ॥
neelaadrau shangkha madhyae shatha-
dhala-kamalae rathna-simhaasanastham
sarvaalangkaara yuktam nava- ghan
ruchiram samyutam chaagrajaena.
bhadhraaya vaama-bhaagae ratha-charana-
yutam brahma-rudraendra vandhyam
vedaanaam saarameesham sujana
parivrutam brahma-daarum smaraami.4
I praise the Lord of the blue hill who has the conch and sits on the throne studded with precious gems. He holds Sri Brahma on the hundred petalled lotus which stemmed from His midriff. He is completely adorned with good decoration. He is flanked by His brother. He keeps His foot on the left side of the chariot. He is worshipped by Sri Brahma, Sri Shiva and Indra. He is the crux and core of the Vedas. He is surrounded by good and pious people. He is the root of Brahmam. My humble salutations to the Lord.4
दोर्भ्यां शोभितलाङ्गलं समुसलं कादम्बरीचञ्चलम्
रत्नाढ्यं वरकुण्डलं भुजबलेनाक्रान्तभूमण्डलम् ।
वज्राभामलचारुगण्डयुगलं नागेन्द्रचूडोज्ज्वलम्
संग्रामे चपलं शशाङ्कधवलं श्रीकामपालं भजे ॥ ५ ॥
dhorbhyaam shobhita laanggalam
samusalam kaadambaree chanchalam
ratnaadyam vara kundalam bhuja-
balai-raakaanta bhoo-mandalam.
vajraabha-amala-charu ganda-yugalam
naagaendra choodoajjvalam
sanggraamae chapalam shashaangka-
Dhavalam shree-kaama paalam bhaje.5
I praise the Lord who holds the anchor and club. He uses them to make the foes nervous. He adorns the gem studded ear ornaments. He is the Lord of the world. His cheeks are without blemish. He dazzles like the gem emanated from the king of serpents. He is as resplendent as the moon. He guards the God of love. My humble salutations to the Lord who reigns in the battle field.5
