Shri Radha Ashtakam is an octet of 8 beautiful verses composed by Shri Nimbarkacharya glorifying Shri Radha. Whoever recites this Radhashtakam becomes the beloved of Lord Radha Krishna and accompany them in their abode golok Vrindavan dham.

 

 

Namaste Shriyai Radhikayai Parayai

Namaste Namaste Mukund priyayai

Sada nand roope Praseed Tvamantah

Prakashe Sfuranti Mukunden Saardham.1

 

नमस्ते श्रियै राधिकायै परायै,

नमस्ते नमस्ते मुकुन्द प्रियायै।

सदा नन्द रूपे प्रसीद त्वमन्त:

प्रकाशे स्फुरन्ती मुकुन्देन सार्धम्।।1

 

Obeisances to Shri Radhika, who is the goddess of pure goodness, who is the most powerful power, the Embodiment of the Bliss Potency. Obeisances to Shri Radhika, who is the beloved of Lord Krishna. O goddess, You and Shri Krishna, both are non-different and always stay together. Please illuminate light and splendidly manifest with Lord Krishna inside my heart.1

 

 

Sva vaasopahaaram Yashoda sutam Va

Sva dadhyadi chauram Samaaraadh yanteem

Sva damnodaram Ya babandhashu Neevya

Prapadhye Nu Damodar preyaseem Taam.2

 

स्व वासोSपहारं यशोदा सुतं वा,

स्व दध्यादि चौरं समाराध यन्तीम् ।

स्व दाम्नोदरं या बबन्धाशु नीव्या,

प्रपद्ये नु दामोदर प्रेयसीं ताम्।।2

 

One who worships Lord Krishna , the charming son of Yashoda, who steals Her clothes, milk-curd, butter, etc and who has effortlessly tied Him up in the divine rope of love , due to which He is known as ‘Damodar’; I undoubtedly take shelter in the lotus feet of Damodar’s beloved Shri Radharani.2

 

 

Dura raadhya maaraadhya Krishnam Vashe Tvam

Maha prem puren Radha bhidha bhooh

Swayam Namkrityaa Hari prem Yachha

Prapannaya Me Krishn roope Samakchham.3

 

दुरा राध्य माराध्य कृष्णं वशे त्वं,

महा प्रेम पूरेण राधा भिधा भू: ।

स्वयं नामकृत्या हरिप्रेम यच्छ,

प्रपन्नाय मे कृष्ण रूपे समक्षम्।।3


O Shri Radhe! You have captivated Lord Shri Krishna with the flood of divine love through Your devotion, whose devotion is considered difficult. You are known by the name “Radha” because of the worship of Lord Krishna. You alone have named yourself , so kindly provide me the divine love of Lord Krishna as I have taken eventual refuge at Your lotus feet.3

 

Mukundastvayaa Prem doren Baddhah,

Patango Yatha Tvaamanu bhraamya maanah

Upkreedyan Haard mevaanu gacchhan-kripa

vartate Kaaryaato Mayeshtim.4

 

मुकुन्दस्त्वया प्रेम डोरेण बद्ध:,

पतंगो यथा त्वामनु भ्राम्यमाण:।

उपक्रीडयन् हार्द मेवानु गच्छन्कृपा

वर्तते कारयातो मयेष्टिम्।।4

 

Lord Krishna, who is tied in your rope of love, always walks around you like a kite, always stays near you and frolic with divine love. O Shri Radha! Your blessings are on everyone, so kindly make my mind as such that may it worship you selflessly and lovingly.4

 

Vrajanteem Sva vrindavane Nitya kaalam

Mukunden Saakam Vidhaayaam kamaalam

Sada mokshya maanaa nu kampaa kataakshaih,

Shriyam Chintayet sachchidanand roopaam.5

 

व्रजन्तीं स्व वृन्दावने नित्य कालं,

मुकुन्देन साकं विधायां कमालम् ।

सदा मोक्ष्य माणा नु कम्पा कटाक्षै:,

श्रियं चिन्तयेत् सच्चिदानन्द रूपाम्।।5

 

Always remember Shri Radhika who is the embodiment of truth, consciousness and bliss i.e ‘Sachidanand’, who offers Her garland to Lord Shri Krishna every day at a specific time, who dwells eternally in Her Leela Bhumi Shri Vrindavan, and who is embellished gracefully, casting Her sidelong glance of grace upon Her devotees.5

 

Mukundaa nu raagen Romanchi taangi

Maham Vyapya manaam Tanusved-vindum

Maha haard vrishtya Kripa paang drishtya

Sama lok yanteem Kada Tvaam Vichakshe.6

 

मुकुन्दा नु रागेण रोमांचि तांगी,

महं व्याप्य मानां तनुस्वेद विन्दुम् ।

महा हार्द वृष्टया कृपा पांग दृष्ट्या,

समा लोक यन्तीं कदा त्वां विचक्षे।।6

 

O Shri Radhe! a profound divine love for Lord Krishna always pervades in Your mind and soul. Your limbs are always saturated with the symptoms of ecstatic emotions of divine love-bliss, such as goose bumps and perspiration. When will I see you looking at me with sidelong glances of causeless mercy showering the nectar of love?6

 

Padaank valoke Maha laal saugham

Mukundah Karoti Svayam Dhyeya paadah

Padam Radhike Te Sada Darsh yaantar-hrideeto

Namantam Kir drochisham Maam.7

 

पदांक वलोके महा लाल सौघं,

मुकुन्द: करोति स्वयं ध्येय पाद:।

पदं राधिके ते सदा दर्श यान्तर्हृदीतो

नमन्तं किर द्रोचिषं माम्।।7

 

O Shri Radhike! Although Shri Krishna Himself is such that His lotus feet are meditated upon, yet He Himself eagerly desires to worship the footprints of Your Lotus feet alone. O Goddess! I bow down to your lotus feet. Illuminating light in my heart, please bless me with the incessant glimpse of your lotus feet.7

 

Sada Radhika Naam Jihva Gratah Syaat-Sada

Raadhika Roop Makshyagra Aaastaam,

Shrutau Raadhika Keerti rantah Svabhaave

Gunaa Raadhikaayaah Shriya Etdeehe.8

 

सदा राधिका नाम जिह्वा ग्रत: स्यात्सदा

राधिका रूप मक्ष्यग्र आस्ताम्।

श्रुतौ राधिका कीर्ति रन्त: स्वभावे,

गुणा राधिकाया: श्रिया एतदीहे।।8

 

Let the name of Shri Radhika be at the tip of my tongue, the form of Shri Radha before my eyes, the glory of Shri Radhika before my ears and let her emotion and virtues flash in my heart always”.  Shri Nimbarikacharya Ji made his disciple aware of the greatness of Radha Kund in the verse and instructed him to recite a particular hymn at the bank of Radha Kund.8

 

idam tvashtakam radhikaayah priyayaah 

patheyuh sadaivam hi daamodarasya 

su tishthanti vrindavane krishn dhaamni 

sakhi moortyo yugma seva-nukoolaah.9

 

इदं त्वष्टकं राधिकाया: प्रियाया: ,

पठेयु: सदैवं हि दामोदरस्य।

सु तिष्ठन्ति वृन्दावने कृष्ण धाम्नि,

सखी मूर्तयो युग्म सेवानुकूला:।।9

 

Whoever recites this octet of Shri Radha Rani beloved of Damodar , they attain the abode of  golok dham , the abode of Radha krishna and find peace and happiness serving Lord in different ways. I pay my obeisances to goddess Radha rani .9
