Shri Rama Pancharatnam Stotra in english with meaning

 

This beautiful verse is from the Shri Rama Pancharatnam Stotra, composed by Adi Shankaracharya. It is a hymn dedicated to Lord Rama, praising his divine qualities. It praises Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana. Each shlok of this stotra ends with ” Namostu Raamaay salakshamanaaya”

 

kañjātapatrāyata lōchanāya karṇāvataṃsōjjvala kuṇḍalāya

kāruṇyapātrāya suvaṃśajāya namōstu rāmāyasalakṣmaṇāya ॥ 1 ॥

 

कञ्जातपत्रायतलोचनाय  कर्णावतंसोज्ज्वलकुण्डलाय।

कारुण्यपात्राय सुवंशजाय नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय ॥१॥

 

कञ्जातपत्रायतलोचनाय (kañjātapatrāyatalocanāya): With long eyes like a lotus leaf,

कर्णावतंसोज्ज्वलकुण्डलाय (karṇāvataṃsojjvalakuṇḍalāya): Wearing coils (earrings) shining in the ears,

कारुण्यपात्राय (kāruṇyapātrāya): Embodiment of Compassion

सुवंशजाय (suvaṃśajāya): Born in the best lineage,

नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय (namo’stu rāmāya salakṣmaṇāya): Salutations to Rama along with Lakshmana 

 

Salutations to Lord Rama, whose eyes resemble the lotus petals, whose ears are adorned with shining earrings, and who is the embodiment of compassion. Salutations to Rama, along with Lakshmana ॥ 1 ॥

vidyunnibhāmbhōda suvigrahāya vidyādharaissaṃstuta sadguṇāya

vīrāvatāraya virōdhihartrē namōstu rāmāyasalakṣmaṇāya ॥ 2 ॥

 

विद्युत् निभांभोदसुविग्रहाय विद्याधरैस्संस्तुत सद्गुणाय।

वीरावताराय विरोधिहन्त्रे नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय ॥२॥

 

विद्युत् निभांभोदसुविग्रहाय (vidyut nibhāmbhodasuvigrahāya): To the one whose form is like a dark rain cloud, shining with a flash of lightning,

विद्याधरैस्संस्तुत सद्गुणाय (vidyādharaiḥ sanstuta sadguṇāya): Who is extolled by the Vidyadharas (celestial beings) for his virtues,

वीरावताराय (vīrāvatārāya): The incarnation of the valiant,

विरोधिहन्त्रे (virodhihantrē): The destroyer of enemies, 

नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय (namo’stu rāmāya salakṣmaṇāya): Salutations to Rama along with Lakshaman 

 

The one whose form is like a dark rain cloud, shining with a flash of lightning,Who is extolled by the Vidyadharas (celestial beings) for his virtues, the one who is The incarnation of the valiant, the one who is The destroyer of enemies, Salutations to such Rama along with Lakshaman ॥ 2 ॥

 

Sri Ram pancharatna stotram to get rid of sins and attain moksha

 

saṃsakta divyāyudha kārmukāya samudra garvāpaharāyudhāya

sugrīvamitrāya surārihantrē namōstu rāmāyasalakṣmaṇāya ॥ 3 ॥

 

संसक्तदिव्यायुधकार्मुकाय समुद्रगर्वापहरायुधाय ।

सुग्रीवमित्राय सुरारिहन्त्रे नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय ॥३॥

 

संसक्तदिव्यायुधकार्मुकाय (saṃsaktadivyāyudhakārmukāya): To the one who is firmly equipped with divine weapons and a bow, 

समुद्रगर्वापहरायुधाय (samudragarvāpaharāyudhāya): Whose weapon took away the pride of the ocean, 

सुग्रीवमित्राय (sugrīvamitrāya): The friend of Sugreeva, 

सुरारिहन्त्रे (surārihantrē): The destroyer of the enemies of the gods, 

नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय (namo’stu rāmāya salakṣmaṇāya): Salutations to Rama along with lakshman। 

Salutations to Rama along with lakshman who is firmly equipped with divine weapons and a bow, Whose weapon took away the pride of the ocean, The friend of Sugreeva and who is The destroyer of the enemies of the gods ॥ 3 ॥

 

Shri Rama Pancharatnam Stotra with English meaning

 

pītāmbarālaṅkṛta madhyakāya pitāmahēndrāmara vanditāya

pitrē svabhaktasya janasya mātrē namōstu rāmāyasalakṣmaṇāya ॥ 4 ॥

 

पीताम्बरालंकृत मध्यकाय पितामहेन्द्रामर वन्दिताय।

पित्रे स्वभक्तस्य जनस्य मात्रे नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय ॥४॥

 

पीताम्बरालंकृत मध्यकाय (pītāmbarālaṅkṛta madhyakāya): To the one adorned in yellow garments, with a well-proportioned body, 

पितामहेन्द्रामर वन्दिताय (pitāmahendrāmara vanditāya): Who is worshipped by the great-grandfather (Brahma), Indra, and the immortals, 

पित्रे स्वभक्तस्य जनस्य मात्रे (pitre svabhaktasya janasya mātre): To the father, who is the sole refuge for his devotees,

नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय (namo’stu rāmāya salakṣmaṇāya): Salutations to Rama along with Lakshmana. 

 

Salutations to Rama along with Lakshmana who is adorned in yellow garments with a well-proportioned body, Who is worshipped by the great-grandfather (Brahma), Indra, and the immortals and who is like a father and the sole refuge for his devotees ॥ 4 ॥

 

namō namastē khila pūjitāya namō namastēndunibhānanāya

namō namastē raghuvaṃśajāya namōstu rāmāyasalakṣmaṇāya ॥ 5 ॥

 

नमो नमस्तेऽखिलपूजिताय नमो नमश्चन्द्रनिभाननाय।

नमो नमस्ते रघुवंशजाय नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय ॥५॥

 

नमो नमस्तेऽखिलपूजिताय (namo namaste’khilapūjitāya): Salutations to the one who is worshipped by all

नमो नमश्चन्द्रनिभाननाय (namo namaścandranibhānanāya): Salutations to the one whose face shines like the moon.

नमो नमस्ते रघुवंशजाय (namo namaste raghuvamśajāya): Salutations to the descendant of the Raghu dynasty (Lord Rama).

नमोऽस्तु रामाय सलक्ष्मणाय (namo’stu rāmāya salakṣmaṇāya): Salutations to Rama along with Lakshmana.

 

Salutations to Rama along with Lakshmana. Salutations to the one who is worshipped by all , Salutations to the one whose face shines like the moon , Salutations to the descendant of the Raghu dynasty (Lord Rama)॥ 5 ॥

 

imāni pañcharatnāni trisandhyaṃ yaḥ paṭhēnnaraḥ

sarvapāpa vinirmuktaḥ sa yāti paramāṃ gatim ॥ 6 ॥

 

इमानि पञ्चरत्नानि त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः।

सर्वपाप विनिर्मुक्तः स याति परमां गतिम् ॥६॥

 

इमानि पञ्चरत्नानि (imāni pañcaratnāni): These five gems (these five verses)

त्रिसन्ध्यं यः पठेन्नरः (trisandhyaṃ yaḥ paṭhennaraḥ): The person who studies in all three evenings (morning, afternoon, evening)

सर्वपाप विनिर्मुक्तः (sarvapāpa vinirmuktaḥ): He is freed from all sins

स याति परमां गतिम् (sa yāti paramāṃ gatim): He attains ultimate goal (moksha)
