Shri Radha Varashtakam

 

 

 

Shri Radha Varashtakam is a composition of 8 verses or prayers glorifying the Lord of Shri Radhika i.e lord Krishna. It is composed by Shri Nimbarkacharya ji. This octat is also known as Shri Radhikadhipa Ashtakam or Shri Krishnashtak. 

 

 

Chatur-mukhadi-samstutam samast-saatva-taanutam ।

Halayudha-disamyutam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 1॥

 

चतुर्मुखादिसंस्तुतं समस्तसात्वतानुतम्

हलायुधादिसंयुतं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥१॥

 

To the One who is worshipped by the four-faced Brahma and other demigods, worshipped by the people of the mode of goodness, Who is accompanied by the Halayudha (the bearer of the plough, Balarama) and others, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 1 ||

 

Bakadi-daitya-kaalkam sagop-gopi-paalakam ।

Manoharasi-talakam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 2॥

 

बकादिदैत्यकालकं सगोपगोपिपालकम्

मनोहरासितालकं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥२॥

 

To the One who killed many demons like Bakasura (the crane demon), the caretaker of the cowherd boys and girls, Who has enchanting black hair, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 2 ||

 

 

 

Radha varashtakam

 

 

 

Surendra-garva-bhanjanam viranchi-moh-bhanjanam ।

Vrajaṅga-nanu-ranjanam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 3॥

 

सुरेन्द्रगर्वभञ्जनं विरञ्चिमोहभञ्जनम्

व्रजाङ्गनानुरञ्जनं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥३॥

 

To the One who destroyed the false pride of the king of demigods (Indra), the One who destroyed the illusion of Viranchi (Lord Brahma), who pleases the damsels of Vraja, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 3 ||

 

Mayurapiccha-mandanam gajendra-dant-khandanam ।

nrishans-kans-dandanam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 4॥

 

मयूरपिच्छमण्डनं गजेन्द्रदन्तखण्डनम्

नृशंसकंसदण्डनं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥४॥

 

To the One who bears the peacock feather, the One who broke the tusks of an elephant (Kuvalayapida), relieved the suffering of the public by punishing King Kamsa, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 4 ||

 

Pradatt-vipradaarakam sudama-dham-karakam ।

Sura-druma-paharakam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 5॥

 

प्रदत्तविप्रदारकं सुदामधामकारकम्

सुरद्रुमापहारकं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥५॥

 

To the One who returned the child of the brahmana (Sandipani Muni), who removed the poverty that Sudama had, who stole the tree of the demigods, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 5 ||

 

Dhananjaya-jayavaham maha-chamukshaya vaham ।

Pitamaha-vyatha-paham namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 6॥   

 

धनञ्जयजयावहं महाचमूक्षयावहम्

पितामहव्यथापहं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥६॥

 

To the One who made Dhananjaya (Arjuna) victorious, the one who brought defeat to the great army, the One who removed the pitiful state of the Grandsire Bhishma, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 6 ||

 

Munindra-shaap-kaaranam yadupraja-pahaaranam ।     

Dhara-bharava-taaranam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 7॥

 

मुनीन्द्रशापकारणं यदुप्रजापहारणम्

धराभरावतारणं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥७॥

 

The One who was the cause of the curse by the brahmana (Durvasa Muni) that destroyed the entire Vraja dynasty, thus removing the burden from the Earth, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 7 ||

 

Suvriksh-mool-shaayinam mrigaari-moksha-daayinam ।

Svakeeya-dhama-maayinam namami Radhikadhipam ॥ 8॥

 

सुवृक्षमूलशायिनं मृगारिमोक्षदायिनम्

स्वकीयधाममायिनं नमामि राधिकाधिपम् ॥८॥

 

To the One who rested and reclined on the banyan tree, Who liberated the hunter (Jara) who pierced His foot, Who returned back to His mystical abode, I offer my obeisances to Lord of Sri Radhika. || 8 ||

 

 

Idam samaahito hitam varashṭakam sada muda ।

Japanjano janurjaradito drutam pramuchyate ॥ 9॥

 

इदं समाहितो हितं वराष्टकं सदा मुदा

जपञ्जनो जनुर्जरादितो द्रुतं प्रमुच्यते ॥९॥

 

Thus, the eight prayers glorifying the Lord of Sri Radhika (Varashtakam) is equally beneficial to all, and will deliver happiness to all. It will quickly free one from the material world who chants this. || 9 ||

 

इति श्री निम्बार्काचार्य विरचितं श्री राधा वराष्टकम सम्पूर्णम
