ज्ञातोऽसि देवदेवेश सर्वज्ञस्त्वमनुत्तमः।

परं ज्योतिरचिन्त्यं यत्तदंशः परमेश्वरः॥१॥

हे देवों के देव, सर्वज्ञ और सर्वोच्च। सर्वोच्च दिव्य प्रकाश, जो अकल्पनीय है, सर्वोच्च सत्ता का एक हिस्सा है॥१॥

O Lord of Lords, as the all-knowing and the supreme. The supreme divine light, which is inconceivable, is but a part of the Supreme Being.1

न समर्थाः सुरास्स्तोतुं यमनन्यभवं विभुम्।

स्वरूपवर्णनं तस्य कथं योषित्करिष्यति ॥२॥

देवता भी आपकी स्तुति करने में असमर्थ हैं, आप अथाह एवं सर्वशक्तिमान हैं। फिर एक साधारण स्त्री आपके वास्तविक रूप का वर्णन कैसे कर सकती है? ॥२॥

Even the gods are unable to praise you, the immeasurable and omnipotent one. How then can an ordinary woman describe your true form?2

यस्याखिलमहीव्योमजलाग्निपवनात्मकम्।

ब्रह्माण्डमल्पकाल्पांशः स्तोष्यामस्तं कथं वयम् ॥३॥

संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड, जिसमें पृथ्वी, आकाश, जल, अग्नि और वायु सम्मिलित है, परमेश्वर की अभिव्यक्ति का एक छोटा सा अंश है। हम इतने कम समय में उसकी महिमा का वर्णन कैसे कर सकते हैं? ॥३॥

The entire universe, consisting of earth, sky, water, fire, and air, is a small fraction of the manifestation of the Supreme. How can we glorify Him in such a short span of time? 3

यतन्तो न विदुर्नित्यं यत्स्वरूपं हि योगिनः।

परमार्थमणोरल्पं स्थूलात्स्थूलं नताः स्म तम् ॥४॥

योगी, जो निरंतर परमात्मा की प्रकृति को समझने का प्रयास करते हैं, उनकी परम वास्तविकता को नहीं समझते हैं। हम, जो भौतिक अस्तित्व से बंधे हैं, केवल अपनी सीमित प्रशंसा प्रस्तुत कर सकते हैं॥४॥

The yogis, who constantly strive to understand the nature of the Supreme, do not comprehend His ultimate reality. We, who are bound by material existence, can only offer our limited praise.4

न यस्य जन्मने धाता यस्य चान्ताय नान्तकः।

स्थितिकर्ता न चाऽन्योस्ति यस्य तस्मै नमस्सदा ॥५॥

जिसका कोई सृष्टिकर्ता नहीं है, जिसका कोई आदि या अंत नहीं है, जो पालनकर्ता और विनाशक है- उसे हम निरंतर नमन करते हैं॥५॥

The one who has no creator, who has no beginning or end, who is the sustainer and the destroyer—unto Him we bow constantly.5

कोपः स्वल्पोऽपि ते नास्ति स्थितिपालनमेव ते।

कारणं कालियस्यास्य दमने श्रूयतां वचः ॥६॥

आपमें क्रोध नहीं है, रंचमात्र भी नहीं। आप तो केवल समय का क्रम बनाए रखते हैं। आपके द्वारा नाग को वश में करने की कहानियाँ इसी उद्देश्य से सुनी जाती हैं॥६॥

You have no anger, not even a little. You only maintain the order of time. The stories of your subduing the serpent are heard for this purpose.6

स्त्रियोऽनुकम्प्यास्साधूनां मूढा दीनाश्च जन्तवः।

यतस्ततोऽस्य दीनस्य क्षम्यतां क्षमतां वर ॥७॥

आप पतिव्रता स्त्रियों तथा दुःखी एवं मूर्ख प्राणियों पर दया करते हैं। अत: दुःखियों के दोषों को क्षमा करो और उन्हें क्षमा प्रदान करो॥७॥

You show compassion towards virtuous women and the distressed and foolish beings. Therefore, forgive the faults of the miserable and grant them forgiveness.7

समस्तजगदाधारो भवानल्पबलः फणी।

त्वत्पादपीडितो जह्यान्मुहूर्त्तार्धेन जीवितम् ॥८॥

आप समस्त ब्रह्माण्ड के आधार हैं। ये नाग अल्प शक्ति युक्त है । आपके चरणों से त्रस्त होकर यह नाग आधे क्षण में ही अपने प्राण त्याग देगा। कृपया एक क्षण के लिए ही सही, इस नाग को अपने पैरों की पीड़ा से मुक्त कर दीजिए॥८॥

You are the support of the entire universe. This serpent is with little strength. Please release this serpent from the agony of your feet, even for a moment. Tormented by your feet he would give up his life in half a moment.8

क्व पन्नगोऽल्पवीर्योऽयं क्व भवान्भुवनाश्रयः।

प्रीतिद्वेषौ समोत्कृष्टगोचरौ भवतोऽव्यय ॥९॥

कहाँ ये निर्बल सर्प, और कहाँ आपका अजेय निवास? प्रेम और घृणा दोनों आपके वश में हैं, क्योंकि आप अविनाशी हैं॥९॥

Where is the weak serpent, and where is your invincible abode? Both love and hatred are within your control, for you are imperishable.9

ततः कुरु जगत्स्वामिन्प्रसादमवसीदतः।

प्राणांस्त्यजति नागोऽयं भर्तृभिक्षा प्रदीयताम्॥१०॥

अतः हे ब्रह्माण्ड के स्वामी, सर्प पर विराजमान रहते हुए अपनी दया दिखाएं। अन्यथा यह नाग अपने प्राण त्याग देगा । हम स्वयं को आपके चरणों में याचक के रूप में अर्पित करते हैं॥१०॥

Therefore, O Lord of the universe, show your mercy while seated on the serpent. This serpent relinquishes its life, and we offer ourselves as beggars at your feet.10

भुवनेश जगन्नाथ महापुरुष पूर्वज।

प्राणांस्त्यजति नागोऽयं भर्तृभिक्षां प्रयच्छ नः॥११॥

हे लोकों के स्वामी ! हे पुरातन और पराक्रमी ! हम अपने प्राण आपको अर्पित करते हैं। यह सर्प अपने जीवन का त्याग करता है; कृपया हमें दाता के रूप में भरण-पोषण प्रदान करें॥११॥

O Lord of the worlds, the ancient and mighty one, we offer our lives to you. This serpent relinquishes its life; please bestow upon us the sustenance of the provider.11

वेदान्तवेद्य देवेश दुष्टदैत्यनिबर्हण।

प्राणांस्त्यजति नागोऽयं भर्तृभिक्षा प्रदीयताम्॥१२॥

हे प्रभु, दुष्ट राक्षसों के विनाशक वेदांत के ज्ञान से जाने जाने वाले, हम आपको अपने जीवन अर्पित करते हैं। यह सर्प अपने जीवन का त्याग करता है; कृपया हमें अपनी दया की भिक्षा प्रदान करें॥१२॥

O Lord, known through the knowledge of Vedanta, the destroyer of wicked demons, we offer our lives to you. This serpent relinquishes its life; please grant us the alms of your mercy.12
